How entry works
Teams get in through a once-a-year lottery for the following August's relay: the captain fills in an online application, then mails a signed form that must be postmarked on the single Lottery Day in early October, no earlier and no later. Selected teams are emailed a few weeks later and the rest hear in late October. A paid Hood to Coast membership gives automatic entry, and a sponsor's second-chance sweepstakes is another route.
