How entry works
Entry is earned by qualifying: runners must beat their age-and-gender standard on a certified course during the qualifying window, then apply during one registration week in September. Applications are ranked by how far under standard each runner ran, which sets a cut-off once the field is full, and from 2027 about 1,000 qualifiers who miss the cut-off are added by random selection. Charity places and invitational entries make up the rest of the field.
