How entry works
Chicago opens one application window each fall. Runners who meet a guaranteed standard (a qualifying marathon time, five Chicago finishes in the last ten years, the Chicago Distance Series and a few other categories) apply for a guaranteed spot, and everyone else enters the non-guaranteed drawing. Drawing results arrive by email in early December, selected runners have about a week to pay, and official charity teams and tour operators stay open long after the draw.
